1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Novvler ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time — continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Description of Service

Novvler is a web-based novel writing application that provides tools for organizing, writing, and exporting long-form fiction. The Service includes an AI writing assistant, spellcheck, export functionality, and project management features.

3. Accounts

  • You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
  • One person may not maintain more than one free account.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Your Content & Intellectual Property

You own everything you write. Novvler does not claim any intellectual property rights over your content. Your novels, characters, notes, and all creative work remain entirely yours.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of operating the Service (e.g., saving your work, syncing across devices, generating exports). This license ends when you delete your content or account.

You represent that you have the right to use any content you upload or create in Novvler and that it does not infringe on the rights of any third party.

5. AI Features

Novvler includes optional AI-powered features (writing assistant, grammar check). When you use these features:

  • Selected text and your instructions are sent to a third-party AI provider (currently xAI) to generate responses.
  • AI-generated content is provided as suggestions. You choose whether to accept, modify, or discard it.
  • You are responsible for reviewing and editing any AI-generated content before publishing or using it.
  • AI usage is subject to monthly word limits based on your plan (Free: 2,000 words/month, Pro: 15,000 words/month).
  • We track AI word counts for billing purposes. We do not store the content of AI prompts or responses.

6. Plans & Payments

Free Plan

The Free plan includes unlimited writing and editing, all card types, export features, native spellcheck, version snapshots, and 2,000 AI words per month at no cost.

Pro Plan

The Pro plan costs $9 per month (or $90 per year, billed annually) and includes everything in the Free plan plus 15,000 AI words per month and AI-powered grammar and style checking.

Billing

  • Payments on the web are processed securely by Stripe. In-app payments on iOS are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your credit card details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period.
  • You can cancel at any time from your account settings. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 7 days of a charge for a refund request.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to violate any laws.
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service.
  • Circumvent rate limits, usage quotas, or security measures.
  • Use the AI features to generate content that is illegal, harmful, or violates third-party rights.
  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the Service without written permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

8. Service Availability

We strive to keep Novvler available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any downtime or data loss.

We recommend regularly exporting your work using the built-in export features.

9. Termination

You may stop using Novvler at any time. You can request account deletion by contacting us.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in abusive behavior, or fail to pay for a Pro subscription. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before any termination, except in cases of severe abuse.

Upon termination, your data will be deleted. We recommend exporting your work before requesting account deletion.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

AI-generated content is provided without warranty of accuracy, originality, or fitness for any purpose. You are solely responsible for evaluating and using AI-generated content.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Novvler shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or creative work, resulting from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a notice on the website. Continued use of the Service after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Novvler operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
